◎简　　介
        Jim和Mickey等人是McNulty神父的五名最坏的学生，涂鸦墙壁，四处偷钱，对世事不公的愤怒变成他们生活的动力。Jim的母亲虽然尝试把他引回正路，可她越是关心，Jim便越是反叛，把自己的精神全都投入自己的日记与一名街头流浪者身上，但从他身上，Jim反而更体会到人生的困苦。

        这部描写吸毒和打篮球的少年成长题材影片，在孩子的成长和心理沟通方面给人一种震动和启迪。主角原本是由瑞弗·菲尼克斯来演，他吸毒致死后，由莱昂那多替代，表演值得称道，但编导处理不当，失去了原作的戏剧力。

◎花　　絮
·跟《黑道家族》(The Sopranos)这部电视剧有诸多联系。扮演Dr Melfi 的Lorraine Bracco 在本片中演Jim的妈妈，扮演Christopher Moltisanti的Micheal Imperoli 演那个死于白血病的朋友，Big Pussy则是码头争吵中的那个。
·小说原作者Jim Carroll也在片中露了一下脸。
·Stephen Lang本来受邀出演Jim的篮球教练，在剧本中叫Swifty。但他拒绝了这个角色，并引用了一些剧本中对原著小说的错误表现，于是剧本中的这部分也被删掉了。
